Balsam fir trees feature a pyramid-like shape and mature to a height of 45-75 feet and width of 20-25 feet. This is a slow-growing tree, growing no more than 12 inches annually. Because the root system of the balsam fir is shallow, this tree is only moderately tolerant of extreme winds.
